Rhythm of Gathering
Abbey Way’s rhythm of Sunday gathering is a bit more casual and relaxed during the summer months of June, July and August. With worship at 10:30 a.m. everyone--young and old--begins by gathering in Elim's Little Chapel. On most Sundays, children age three to third grade are dismissed to their own circle of learning during the sermon and return at communion.
This summer our Sunday lessons during worship will be centered on "The Language of the Soul." We will alternate between practical instruction and faith stories from attenders of Abbey Way. The Sundays when a faith story is shared, the children will be with us. Come and learn with us.
Summer’s fun can sometimes distract us from our heart’s deepest desire. Our Summer Sundays create a simple way of staying connected to God and to each other.
A typical “Summer Sunday” schedule looks like:
10:00. Pre-Service Prayer in Chapel
10:15. Arrival / Doors open in Chapel / Nursery Little Ones are dropped off in Elim's nursery
10:30. Worship in Elim's Little Chapel / Children’s Time (Three Year Olds - Third Grade) during the message on most Sundays / Communion
11:45. Coffee and Connection in Lounge
FIRST SUNDAY Worship and COMMON MEAL in the Park
On the first Sundays of July, August and September, we eat a communal meal together after our worship gathering at Logan Park. We will stay a little longer, dismissing at 1:00 p.m. Bring a dish of your favorite food to share with others if your name is not on the meal schedule.
On the fourth Sundays you have the opportunity to come early and serve at Elim Church's Hope Avenue. Contact Pastor Laura for more information about volunteering.
