Quinn became sick while the Larson's were in Kansas for a wedding on Saturday, December 13th, 2014. He was admitted to the hospital in Kansas City and kept getting worse. Over the next several days, Quinn was diagnosed with bacterial strep pneumoniae meningitis, meningoencephalitis and ventriculitis. Over the ensuing months he lost eyesight and hearing, and has had many setbacks due to complications from the infection. He is now recovering some eyesight and is just beginning to hear sounds again due to a recent cochlear inplant.
(You may recall that early last summer, Quinn fell through the screen of a second story window in his home. He landed head first on the cement patio below. He suffered a very traumatic skull fracture and brain injury. At that time he made a miraculous recovery within a few months.)
On Friday, May 1st, Quinn was released from the hospital and the Larsons are now adjusting to life at home with Quinn. Quinn still has much therapy ahead of him and a need for special care as he progresses. There is also a need for special equipment for Quinn and for handicapped accommodations in their home. Your prayers and support have meant so much to the Larsons throughout this entire ordeal, and we are now asking for your support once again.
On Saturday, June 13th is Quinn's Carnival Fundraiser. This will be a wonderful time of celebrating the progress Quinn has made, encouraging the family, and letting them know how much we care. Here are some details:
